I love Epsom salts, most people do. They relieve soreness, they help you sleep and so much more. But I’ll bet you didn’t know that an Epsom salts bath can actually improve your health overall.

Check out the benefits I have discovered by using Epsom Salts. I highly recommend using them at least once per week and here is why:


1. Epsom Salts Improve Digestion…

Taking an Epsom salt bath after dinner can actually help your digestion! The magnesium and other minerals that exist in Epsom salts soak into your body through your skin. These beneficial minerals will calm an upset stomach, relieve bloating and improve digestion (literally within minutes).


2. De-Stress…

The high levels of magnesium alone that exists in these amazing salts will relieve your stress and assist your adrenal glands.  You can increase the benefits by simply adding a few drops of lavender oil to your bath (make sure you wait till you are done filling the tub with water, then add the oil).  I also recommend giving Dr. Teals Lavender Epsom Salts a try for even more of a relaxation effect that will actually help you sleep!


3. Fibromyalgia, Arthritis or just general aching…

These magical salts do it all when it comes to relieving aches, pains, sore muscles and joint pain.  But I bet you didn’t know that they will also decrease the pain in fibromyalgia patients, as well as rheumatoid arthritis or other kinds of arthritic pain.  When it comes to arthritis most people don’t know that the number one cause of this type of pain is calcium deposit build-up. When calcium builds up on your joints and bones it can cause extreme pain. The best way to counteract this is with more magnesium (found in Epsom salts). The magnesium breaks down the calcium deposits and relieves the pain!


4. Balance Your Hormones…

Do you crave chocolate like a mad woman when its your “time of the month”? The reason for this is that your magnesium levels (as well as other minerals in your body) drop drastically during this time.  Chocolate is super high in magnesium and that’s why we crave it so bad when our hormones change.  Stress hormones like Cortisol will throw your body all out of whack as well so its important to make sure you are getting the minerals you need to support the ups and downs in your hormone levels due to stress or body changes.  Epsom salts will reduce stress hormones and when used regularly can actually help normalize your hormone levels!


5. Self Care!

Taking a nice, warm relaxing Epsom Salts bath is Self Care at its best ladies and gentleman and all of us could use a little more of that!
